Hôtel des Horlogers

The Hôtel des Horlogers, a hotel for the luxury watch company Audemars Piguet, builds on the history of the Hotel de France, establushed in Le Brassus in 1857 by members of the Audemars Piguet family. The hotel became an important stop on the Chemin des Horlogers - the watchmaking route that connected the Vallee de Joux workshops to Geneva, where timepieces were sold by retailers. Audemars Piguet hired BIG to design a new hotel in line with the luxury brand's values and sustainable mission. The building follows the topography of the Valley and blends with nature to immerse visitors in the natural environment of the place. The structure is made up of slabs that zigzag towards the valley and slope slightly to embrace the terrain and create a continuous path through nature. This concept understands the site as a series of mountain ridges descending the hill, where the building blocks are a series of berms lined with various trees and vegetation.This project was completed at Bjarke Ingels Group during the Schematic Design Phase.
